NaNoWriMo

This year, I’m finally taking the plunge. I’ve committed to participating in National Novel Writing Month. This is a 30-day form of self-torture that writers “affectionately” call #NaNoWriMo. I’ll be blogging my way through my first #NaNo attempt and perhaps we can help each through it.

Resurrected from the ashes to serve as motivator and confessor, the Georgia Writer blog for the next 30 days will be taken over by NaNoWriMo. It will remain a blog about writing and life and the constant struggle to balance the two, though singularly focused on a lofty goal of 50,000 words to complete my science fiction novel project current titled “Portraits.”

Here are links to each of my weekly posts about NaNoWriMo:

#NaNoWriMo – Week 1

#NaNoWriMo – Week 2

#NaNoWriMo – Week 3

#NaNoWriMo – Week 4

Previous posts are listed under Archives as well and you can follow me via the “Follow Georgia Writer” link in the upper left next to the headline.

I’m trying to live by the words I quoted in an earlier post about Edison and creativity: “The first requisite for success is to develop the ability to focus and apply your mental and physical energies to the problem at hand – without growing weary. Because such thinking is often difficult, there seems to be no limit to which some people will go to avoid the effort and labor that is associated with it.”

Follow along on my journey, and if you’re doing NaNoWriMo, share yours. I promise that I’ll try not to whine too much.
