Hello, fellow logophiles!

If you know what logophile means, you’re a definite word nerd. But rest assured that you’re in the right place. You probably fit into one of two categories:

  1. You’re a writer.
  2. You’re a reader.

Some of you may fit into both categories, like me. My name is Edie, and I’ve been writing as a profession and a hobby my entire adult life. My world is centered upon the written word. I’ve often joked with friends and colleagues that writing is the only thing I know how to do. Perhaps not the only thing, but one of the things that I do best.

I love sitting down at my laptop to bash out a few new paragraphs of my novel. I get a rush of adrenaline when I crack open my traveler’s notebook to scribble sudden inspiration for a character or scene. I enjoy the act of having written, though I’m not too fond of the editing process.

Like most writers, I also love to read and at any given time I may be in the process of reading three to four books. If you want to compare book lists or just check out what I’m reading, you can peruse my Good Reads list at the left. I also have an addiction to notebooks and pens, but that’s a topic for a forthcoming blog.

Between reading novels and writing one, I have a full-time job (one where I have to do a lot of editing), a husband and three cats. How is one to balance writing with the demands of life? On this blog, I share some of my experiences of the writing life. As the tagline at the top of my site says: Musings from a writing life. Sometimes about reading, sometimes about writing but often just about life.

For instance, I just finished NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month, and blogged weekly about my experiences. I also have blogged about books on writing and the creative process. For more topics, check out “Categories” on the left, or click on “Archives” to read everything.

If your goal is to be a writer, it’s not something that you can do just a couple of times a month. It has to be your life, and that can be a struggle. If you’re on this journey as well, follow my blog using the “Follow Georgia Writer” link in the upper left. I hope that you’ll find some helpful information, or at least know that you’re not alone.
